Sudan Jets Bomb Darfur Village

As of May 18, Un peacekeepers have confirmed a second air strike in the area of Sukamir in north Darfur. This is the second Sudanese air strike within a period of three days, which has brought about UN accusations that the pro- Arab Sudanese government is continuing to partake in the ethnic cleansing of non Arabs in the region. The team has reported that as many as 300,000 have been killed by the air strikes. The report also stated that Sudanese officials have made it impossible for aid workers to enter the region due to security concerns. Due to the instability in the region the UN has decided to suspend all flights to the regions of Shangil Tobaya, Franga Suk and other regions in north Darfur. Reports also surfaced that on May 15th the town of Labado and the village of Esheraya in southern Darfur were victims of air strike bombings by the Sudanese government militia. With the upcoming independence of South Sudan in July, stability in the country for the near future seems somewhat unlikely.
