Bin Laden--- Success for U.S.?

News medias across the world have been reporting on the death of Osama Bin Laden, and although my post was initially going to be concerning Somalia (coming soon to a blog near you) I posed a very important question to myself: What does this mean for the U.S.?

Of course, retaliation was a natural action for the U.S. seeing that the devastation of September 11th still haunts many Americans today. However, does this mean that there will be more controversy concerning areas such as Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan? President Obama did act on a situation that he did not necessarily bring the country into, and he deserves credit for his achievements thus far. The assumption can be made that although this is an achievement for the U.S. it is now time for the President to help focus on the next step for the country which mainly begins with retreaving our troops from overseas, and ensuring the safety of Americans on their own soil.

Osama Bin Laden has been known as the "Most Wanted Face of Terrorism" with video footage of him in unknown locations cheerfully making a mockery of the United States frustration in not being able to find him. And it is safe to say some Americans probably question if we actually managed to "catch" him this time. Hopefully, the White House went through necessary procedures to ensure the identity of the individual that was captured (as I assume they did).

I would like to ask my classmates to feel free to comment on the following questions that were posed, and also incoporate feedback. At the end of the day I personally believe war is not the answer, but after such a gruesome attack on American soil it was imperative that the country stand up to ensure the safety, strength, and pride of the American country.

God Bless America.
