Chad Update

Amnesty International reports forced evocations in Chad’s capital, N'Djamena. They started in February 2008-July 2009. During that time tens of thousands of people have become homeless. The people who are evocated and have their homes destroyed did not receive any warning
before hand. Some people fled, others stayed and live in the ruins of what were their homes.
Many not only lost their homes but, their businesses. They lost the tools and resources
necessary to surviving. Amnesty International is asking the government to end evictions, to pass and enforce a law prohibiting forced eviction, to provide victims with emergency shelter, access to clean water and sanitation and health services, and to respect the rights of victims, including access to justice and the right to reparations, restitution, rehabilitation, compensation and guarantees of non-repetition.
