Today, I went browsing through the New York Times online. I found the article, “Palestinian Police Kill Israeli Visiting West Bank Holy Site,” and was published on April 24. The article discusses the death of an Israeli citizen visiting a holy site by the gun shot of a Palestinian police officer last month. It is so sad to me that while engaging in regular, daily activities, like visiting a holy site, Israeli’s and Palestinians are fighting with each other. This violates the human rights of both parties. It is particularly disturbing that the situation between the two groups has escalated to the extent that innocent individuals are killed. No one should have to live in a place where they risk their lives, just by waking up and going about daily activities. I hope for Israel that conditions drastically improve in the near future.
